Bill Hogan grew up in Chatham and attended Saint Thomas University. After university, he moved to Woodstock where he began a fulfilling teaching career.
Bill was the principal of Woodstock High School and held that position for 8 years. He has a passion for education and knows the importance of investing in the future generations of this province. During Bill’s teaching career, he has represented the teachers of New Brunswick at the provincial level by serving on the Board of Directors.
As well, Bill served on Woodstock Town Council for nine years. During this time, he has been the Chair of the Public Works Committee.
Over the past 35 years Bill and his wife Heather have lived in Woodstock. They have two children and three beautiful grandchildren, all of whom live in the area.
During his spare time, you can usually find Bill either in a gym, rink or on a field watching his students play sports. He never misses a concert, theater production, art show or social activity. If it involves Bill’s students, he is there. His students and staff are a source of pride and he has always been so proud of them all.
Bill’s many experiences have strengthened his skills as a strong leader, collaborator, decision maker, and team builder. He is calm, knowledgeable and listens before he speaks. Bill has strong communicating skills and speaks both French and English.
As a Town Counsellor and a member of the New Brunswick Teacher’s Federation, Bill has spoken for those who elected him. Experience has given him a strong understanding of the issues that face the citizens of the riding of Carleton and the province of New Brunswick.
Bill Hogan was appointed as the Minister of Public Safety on February 23, 2022. On October 13, 2022, he was appointed as the Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development.
