Hon. Kathy Bockus

MLA for Saint Croix

Minister responsible for Seniors

MLA, Saint Croix

Kathy Bockus was first elected to the 60th Legislative Assembly on September 14th, 2020 for the riding of Saint Croix.

Listening to people and helping them with their issues is something she has done all her life – first as an award-winning newspaper reporter, editor and freelance journalist, then as the constituency assistant for the late MLA Greg Thompson.

Kathy’s educational background includes successful graduation from the “sink or swim school of journalism.” She began her working career at the Telegraph-Journal newspaper three days after graduation from Hampton Consolidated School.

Kathy’s hobbies include reading, more reading (love mysteries!), knitting, quilting, gardening and she has recently discovered a newfound skill shooting a compound bow. She appreciates the important “down time” these activities offer.

Kathy has always been active in the community – most recently serving on the organizing board of the Charlotte County Fall Fair. She helped establish the Boys and Girls of Charlotte County, acting as its first interim executive director.

Kathy and her husband Walter have recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. They have two adult children and seven grandchildren.

Kathy and Walter live on a hobby farm in Leverville just outside St. Stephen with a big dog, a pony, several beehives, and a large flock of wild turkeys who regularly stroll down her driveway like they own the place!
