Premier Blaine Higgs Announces Amendments to Community Investment Fund to Support Security Measures for Not-for-Profit Organizations\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

[Fredericton, New Brunswick] \u2013<\/b>\u00a0Premier Blaine Higgs announced today that the terms and conditions of the Community Investment Fund (CIF) will be amended to allow not-for-profit organizations to apply for funding to enhance security measures at their facilities. This new initiative responds to growing concerns about the safety of religious institutions and community spaces across New Brunswick.<\/div>
\u00a0<\/div>
\u201cWhether it\u2019s a synagogue, mosque, church, or any other community facility, these spaces are critical to the fabric of our communities, and it\u2019s our duty to ensure they remain safe and secure,\u201d said Premier Higgs. \u201cThe amendments to the Community Investment Fund will allow organizations to install video cameras, upgrade locks, and take other necessary steps to protect their spaces and those who visit them.\u201d<\/div>
\u00a0<\/div>
The Community Investment Fund allocates $70,000 annually to each Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), regardless of party affiliation or riding, to support community projects and priorities. With the newly amended terms, MLAs will be able to direct CIF funding toward not-for-profit organizations seeking to implement security measures.<\/div>
\u00a0<\/div>
\u201cBy empowering MLAs to respond to the specific security needs of their communities, we are addressing an urgent concern for many religious and community-based groups,\u201d said Higgs. \u201cThis initiative reflects our commitment to keeping New Brunswick\u2019s places of worship and public gathering spaces safe for all.\u201d<\/div>

Religious institutions and other not-for-profit organizations are encouraged to contact their local MLAs to inquire about applying for funding through the CIF to support security enhancements.<\/div>

[Fredericton (Nouveau-Brunswick)] –<\/b>\u00a0Le premier ministre Blaine Higgs a annonc\u00e9 aujourd’hui que les modalit\u00e9s du Fonds d’investissement communautaire (FIC) seront modifi\u00e9es afin de permettre aux organismes sans but lucratif de d\u00e9poser des demandes de financement pour am\u00e9liorer les mesures de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 dans leurs installations. Cette nouvelle initiative r\u00e9pond \u00e0 la hausse des pr\u00e9occupations concernant la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 des institutions religieuses et des espaces communautaires au Nouveau-Brunswick.<\/div>

Le Fonds d’investissement communautaire alloue 70 000 $ par an \u00e0 chaque d\u00e9put\u00e9.e de l’Assembl\u00e9e l\u00e9gislative, ind\u00e9pendamment de son affiliation politique ou de sa circonscription, pour appuyer les projets et les priorit\u00e9s communautaires. Gr\u00e2ce aux nouvelles dispositions, les d\u00e9put\u00e9.e.s pourront affecter les fonds du FIC \u00e0 des organisations \u00e0 but non lucratif d\u00e9sireuses de mettre en \u0153uvre des mesures de s\u00e9curit\u00e9.<\/div>

\u00ab En permettant aux d\u00e9put\u00e9.e.s de r\u00e9pondre aux besoins sp\u00e9cifiques de leurs communaut\u00e9s en mati\u00e8re de s\u00e9curit\u00e9, nous r\u00e9pondons \u00e0 une pr\u00e9occupation urgente pour de nombreux groupes religieux et communautaires \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 M.
