{"id":3884,"date":"2024-09-28T07:49:55","date_gmt":"2024-09-28T11:49:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pcnb.ca\/?p=3884"},"modified":"2024-09-28T07:50:16","modified_gmt":"2024-09-28T11:50:16","slug":"holt-and-liberal-candidate-disagree-on-nurses-bonuses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pcnb.ca\/fr\/holt-and-liberal-candidate-disagree-on-nurses-bonuses\/","title":{"rendered":"Holt and Liberal Candidate Disagree on Nurses\u2019 Bonuses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(<strong>Sept. 20, 2024)<\/strong> \u2013 The Honourable Greg Turner, PCNB Candidate for Moncton South, issued the following statement about the NB Liberal announcement that they would pay nurses $15,000 in retention bonuses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLiberals constantly promise to \u2018fix\u2019 healthcare, but they simply do the same thing every time: they just throw money at the problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMoney is part of the solution, but it also takes new approaches and policy changes to get results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cRecently our government tabled an offer to the nurses that, if ratified, would have made NB nurses the highest paid in Atlantic Canada and fourth-highest paid in the country. It contained a $10,000 retention bonus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNurses ultimately declined the offer, indicating that they were concerned about issues outside of the collective agreement. Susan Holt is ignoring those concerns, and doubling down on a \u2018cash only\u2019 approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMy Liberal opponent in Moncton South has been a long-standing critic of nursing retention bonuses.
