A re-elected PCNB government will help New Brunswickers get faster access to healthcare by expanding the scope of practice for nurse practitioners, registered nurses, registered psychiatric nurses, paramedics, and pharmacists.<\/p>

\u201cBeing able to see a qualified healthcare professional quickly is key to effective healthcare,\u201d said Blaine Higgs, leader of the PCNB. \u201cBut that doesn\u2019t always need to be a doctor. By making it possible for nurses, pharmacists, and paramedics to see and treat more patients, we can speed up care and help doctors be available for cases that absolutely require their attention.\u201d<\/p>

Enabling New Brunswick\u2019s healthcare professionals to fully utilize their range of knowledge and expertise in caring for individuals and families will have a positive impact on people\u2019s overall health while also reducing wait times and strain on the province\u2019s healthcare system.<\/p>

\u201cWe are funding healthcare at the highest level it has ever been funded, and we\u2019re proud to do so. But money alone will not fix challenges in healthcare,\u201d said Higgs. \u201cWe need to make policy changes that help get real results.\u201d<\/p>

A PCNB government would work with medical professionals and their governing bodies to evaluate all scopes of practice in relevant jurisdictions. The goal will be to make New Brunswick a national leader in providing patient care options.<\/p>

\u201cPolicy changes are critical to healthcare innovation,\u201d concluded Higgs. \u201cJust like two weeks ago when we changed the rules on compensation for doctors to reward those who can see more patients, this is a win-win. It is a financial benefit to professionals already in the system and allows more New Brunswickers to access healthcare. Let\u2019s keep building a stronger healthcare system.\u201d<\/p><\/div>
