Progressive Conservatives kick off campaign with recommitment to HST tax cut<\/h2>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

September 20, 2024\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0– Blaine Higgs, leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of New Brunswick kicked off the official campaign period by recommitting to cutting two percentage points off the HST.<\/div>

The promise, which will help New Brunswickers manage cost of living challenges, was reiterated at an event at a local car dealership in Edmundston. The HST will be cut to 14% in Budget 2025, and then to 13% in Budget 2026. When fully implemented, it will save the average New Brunswick family $1000.<\/div>

\u201cWe are serious about addressing affordability challenges and that\u2019s what this tax cut does,\u201d stated Higgs. \u201cOur promise to cut taxes for New Brunswickers is in stark contrast to the Liberals\u2019 refusal to even consider cutting the HST, and their support for Justin Trudeau\u2019s carbon tax. The Liberal leader has said on social media that she finds the idea of adding a \u2018sugar tax\u2019 to be of interest to her.\u201d<\/div>

\u201cHistory shows us that Susan Holt is very comfortable raising taxes. Life will even more expensive if the Liberals are elected.\u201d<\/div>

At the end of the former Liberal government\u2019s last term, the province was left with increased debt, a reduced credit rating, and a population leaving for opportunity in other provinces. In contrast, after six years of a Progressive Conservative government, about $2.5 billion of debt has been repaid, the provincial credit rating has been repaired, and people are not just staying in New Brunswick, they\u2019re returning home for the opportunities available here.<\/div>
\u00a0<\/div>
Responsible fiscal policies and management have ensured that Progressive Conservatives can deliver the first one per cent tax cut in Budget 2025 if re-elected on October 21, and the full two per cent by the following year.<\/div>

\u201cNew Brunswickers cannot afford to go back into the red with another Liberal government,\u201d concluded Higgs. \u201cWe have worked so hard to improve our province\u2019s economy and outlook to fall back. (20 septembre 2024<\/strong>) – Blaine Higgs, chef du Parti progressiste-conservateur du Nouveau-Brunswick, a donn\u00e9 le coup d’envoi officiel \u00e0 la campagne \u00e9lectorale en s’engageant \u00e0 baisser la TVH de deux points de pourcentage.<\/p>

Cette promesse, qui aidera les N\u00e9o-Brunswickois.e.s \u00e0 faire face aux d\u00e9fis engendr\u00e9s par la hausse du co\u00fbt de la vie, a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9it\u00e9r\u00e9e lors d’un \u00e9v\u00e9nement chez un concessionnaire automobile local \u00e0 Edmundston.<\/p>

La TVH sera baiss\u00e9e \u00e0 14 % dans le budget 2025, puis \u00e0 13 % dans le budget 2026. Lorsqu’elle sera mise en \u0153uvre compl\u00e8tement, elle permettra \u00e0 la famille n\u00e9o-brunswickoise moyenne d’\u00e9conomiser 1 000 $.<\/p>

Higgs. \u00ab Notre promesse de baisser les imp\u00f4ts pour les N\u00e9o-Brunswickois.e.s est fortement en contraste avec le refus des lib\u00e9raux d’envisager une baisse de la TVH et leur appui \u00e0 la taxe sur le carbone de Justin Trudeau. La chef lib\u00e9rale a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 sur les r\u00e9seaux sociaux que l’id\u00e9e de mettre en \u0153uvre une \u201ctaxe sur le sucre\u201d l’int\u00e9ressait. \u00bb<\/p>

\u00ab L’histoire nous d\u00e9montre que Susan Holt est tr\u00e8s \u00e0 l’aise avec l’id\u00e9e d’augmenter les imp\u00f4ts. La vie sera encore plus ch\u00e8re si les lib\u00e9raux sont \u00e9lus. \u00bb<\/p>

\u00c0 la fin du dernier mandat de l’ancien gouvernement lib\u00e9ral, la province s’est retrouv\u00e9e avec une plus grande dette, une r\u00e9duction de notre cote de cr\u00e9dit et une population qui quittait la province pour saisir des opportunit\u00e9s dans d’autres provinces. En revanche, apr\u00e8s six ans de gouvernement progressiste-conservateur, la dette d’environ 2,5 milliards de dollars a \u00e9t\u00e9 rembours\u00e9e, la cote de cr\u00e9dit de la province a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9tablie et les gens ne se contentent pas juste de rester au Nouveau-Brunswick, ils y reviennent pour profiter des possibilit\u00e9s qui s’offrent \u00e0 eux.<\/p>

Des politiques et une gestion fiscales responsables vont permettre aux progressistes-conservateurs d’offrir la premi\u00e8re baisse d’imp\u00f4t de 1 % dans le budget de 2025 s’ils sont r\u00e9\u00e9lus le 21 octobre, et la r\u00e9duction compl\u00e8te de 2 % l’ann\u00e9e suivante. \u00ab Les N\u00e9o-Brunswickois.e.s ne peuvent pas se permettre de replonger dans le rouge avec un autre gouvernement lib\u00e9ral \u00bb, a conclu M. Higgs.<\/p>
