Jody Carr, MLA for Oromocto, was born on July 3, 1975, in Saint John. He has a twin brother who is also elected to the NB Legislature. Jody attended Oromocto High School, where he graduated in 1993 as class president. He went on to the University of New Brunswick, where he graduated with a Degree in Business Administration in 1998, majoring in economics.

In 1995, at age 20, he was the youngest Progressive Conservative Party candidate in the history of New Brunswick when he was a candidate in the provincial general election in the riding of Oromocto-Gagetown.

Mr. Carr was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick on June 7, 1999. He was re-elected on June 9, 2003 for his second term and was sworn in as Minister of Post-secondary Education and Training on February 14, 2006. He was re-elected on September 18, 2006 and served 4 years in opposition.

In 2008, he was campaign manager for David Alward’s bid to become Leader of the Progressive Conservative Party. He then served as lead MLA in writing Mr. Alward’s 2010 election platform. On September 18, 2010 he won his fourth election in Oromocto. On October 12, 2010, he was sworn in as Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development and Minister Responsible for the Capital Commission.

He has built a reputation on being accessible, approachable and very active on behalf of his constituents.

Mr. Carr and his wife Krista have two daughters, Taylor and Madison. They reside in Burton.
